Trend of 5G Industry and Services

[Abstract]
5G is the IMT-2020 wireless communication standard defined by the ITU. It is the fifth generation of mobile communication and includes LTE and NR (New Radio). This video will focus on the 5G network changing from NSA (Non-Standalone) to SA (Standalone), the expansion of 5G through the 5G specialized network market, and new changes in the equipment market through the commercialization of open LAN, and we will learn about AI technology that is actively used in network operation, network planning and diagnosis methods, and various use cases, and discuss its implications.

"AI-based O&M in 5G"

[Abstract]
This video will discuss how AI-based O&M technologies would be melted into the 5G infrastructure and service environment. The O&M generations are briefly reviewed and the evolution history of them followed. KT's efforts toward AI-based O&M will be introduced with several examples.
The video will be wrapped up by pointing out some considerations for AI O&M before we enter the new era of 6G.

Phased Array Antenna for mmWave Beamforming

ㅇ As the Generation of mobile communication has evolved into 5G, advantages such as low latency and high speed have appeared, but the frequency band also increased. Unlike 4G communication, it has narrow coverage and requires more base stations to cover the same area. This video offers an overview of the solution, antenna beamforming technology, which can effectively solve the problem using the ‘phased array’ antennas without increasing the number of base stations.

ㅇ Contents
1. Background
2. Fundamentals of Phased Array
3. Basic Phased Array Configuration
4. Summary

ㅇ Speaker (Han Lim Lee / Chung-Ang University)
Han Lim Lee received the B.A.Sc. degree in electronics engineering from Simon
Fraser University, BC, Canada, in 2008 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from KAIST, Daejeon, South Korea, in 2010, 2014, respectively. From 2014 to 2015, he was a senior engineer in DMC research center at Samsung Electronics. In 2015, he joined the school of electrical and electronics engineering in Chung-Ang University, where he is currently an associate professor. He is currently leading an Integrated-Antenna-Systems Lab with research interests in mmWave/sub-THz antenna, beamforming antenna and system, on-chip antenna and antenna- in-package, intelligent sensors and radars, and simultaneous wireless information and power transfer.

5G Commercialization & Radio Station Licensing

ㅇ The Republic of Korea got the title ‘first commercialization of 5G’ and succeeded in early commercialization. This video shares experiences such as planning, preparation, and progress for the commercialization of 5G in Korea.

ㅇ Contents
1. Significance & Necessity of Early Commercialization of 5G
2. Progress on the World’s 1st 5G Commercialization
3. Administrative & Institutional Preparation for 5G Commercialization

ㅇ Speaker (Min-kyu Kang / Central Radio Management Service)
In 2006, he was appointed to an agency belonging to the Ministry of Information and Communication and began his career as a public official. While working at the Central Radio Management Service from 2008 to the present, he has carried out various tasks such as permission and inspection of radio stations, administrative disposition of radio stations violating the Radio Act, and compliance survey of technical standards for broadcasting and communication facilities. Since January 2023, it has been in charge of licensing mobile communication wireless stations such as 5G and eco-friendly maintenance of mobile communication base stations
